2nd attempt at smoking meat!
This time, I cooked a 5 pound pork boston butt for 10 hours at 225 degrees and it turned out fantastic! I used apple juice under the meat in a pan and sprayed the meat every hour or so with an apple juice / apple vinegar spray to create a nice tasty outside crust. YUMMMY! I am planning a big BBQ party this Spring and my advice would be to try and make it if you can! Oh yeah, I used hickory wood for smoking this time around...
The first picture is the raw meat covered in Stubbs BBQ rub and the second shows the finished product - PULLED PORK!

new obsession
Fairly explanatory huh! I have had a smoker for 4 years and just now decided to actually use it... Now I am obsessed. Cooked this apple stuffed turkey at 225 degrees for 4.5 hours over a pan of white wine. Fantastic.

Monster Mud Pit Madness
I don't know if you can tell from these pictures but this monster mud pit is between 12 inches and 10 inches deep all the way around. That means 1) there is a TON of dirt piled up all around our backyard and I have no idea what to do with it and 2) there is about 8-9 inches of standing water in that pit. Yikes! Luckily, Stephanie's dad and I were able to siphon off most of the water and some gravel arrived today that might start helping to fill in the pit a little once I start wheelbarrowing it around the house. Many, many, many thanks to Stephanie's dad who helped me with the final part of what was called "the big dig".
BABY LOVES THE BATH TIME! (and momma does too!)
Baby loves the bath water! I am thinking that he will be a good swimmer for sure. Not only does he love playing in the water but he also has the same big hands and feet that I inherited from my grandfather DB!
